Decision Making

    In limited one hour, we finally figure out what ways best to improve 60 student's grades. It truly helps us to experience how to make a decision.
     I choose the "Accommodation" which is seeing issue as more important to others than yourself; allowing others to decide for you when your interests are not critical to you. I think there were too many problems of our tests that we want to solve. Since whole class have 60's problems, we can not take out all of questions from the test. We only can take out what questions bring our grades down mostly. I decide to listen to our leader's options. That's was great because I think those voice present our minds. As a team, we can not think too personally.
     In class, I observed that many students choose compromise method. When the first guy stood up, he tried to explain some point views and then ask us okay or not. However, those suggestions not benefit all of us. People started to discuss and speak loudly. And then, more and more leaders went up and help. They fight for student in different situation. Half hour past, we still can not figure out what way to take. Sometime, the option can not be select with only one objection. Everyone try to help her to understand what way will benefit us more. At last, students get benefit from this decision making process and we are all qual.
    I think our leader's power was low and group's power is high. The best way to handle this conflict is the leader should facilitate the decision making by the group. They defining the problems and highlighting options for us to consider, also provides resources; we strongly support the goals. The final decision still made by group members.

Unbreakable Egg

    It's funny we have a chance to make the "egg" together as a team last Monday. I think our group have go through all steps in the planning process. As we knew we need to make a "egg", a group member already written down what this egg looks like. We start to discuss how to make this work. Everyone has opinion and marked down what the protection and base need to correct. A group member thinks in physics way, she figured out use the tape connect the straw can control the speed egg falling down. Then we finished our first draft before the deadline.
     We find that was difficult to make the base that we planned because we didn't have enough straws. However, we try another way. We fixed the base by use the limited 3 minutes. Everybody to be responsible for different part of the egg. We don't have a team leader, but all the opinion put together also make it works. I'm so glad to work with these people.
     At the end, we called this egg "unbreakable" because this egg full filled our passion. Although this egg is unbreakable after the test, we forgot to write down our names on the draft that we can't get the 10 points. It brings me down. I think we should pay attention next time.
